Don't Drive Them To The Wall

Many people think it is natural
That parents place their dreams onto their children.
But there are also complications with this idea.

In their honesty and purity,
Children may strive to try and achieve their parent's ideals.
But it is a competitive world.
Somewhere along the way,
They will discover their limitations
And, like being shot down from the sky,
They will fall, feel hurt and become disillusioned.

Parents, though,can be forgetful.
They have either forgotten
The countless mistakes, failures and the sense of inferiority
That lies in the shadows of their small successes
Or are holding back from sharing them.
Also, mothers may be pushing their children
For the purpose of gaining their husband's appreciation and love.

What is impure will not stay submerged for long.
Should parents put too many expectations on their children,
The children will leave their parents
In order to save themselves.
They do not want to carry their parent's burden.
To not overwhelm them is also an expression of love,
And an opportunity for parents to self-reflect.
