Of scrabble, wazza word and amazing race

First and foremost, I would like to apologise to all my loyal readers who are bitterly disappointed with my irregular updating of blog. In fact, I'm also angry with myself for leaving my beloved blog barren for more than a month. Due to the tension of the mid year exam which is creeping closer with the passing of time and the unavailability of accessing Internet plus my hectic daily schedule that doesn't allow me sufficient time to breath and take in fresh air, my blog has been plunged into the dark abyss, with no real signs of telling when it would be refreshed.

This indicates that in the future I would only blog when I have the time and I would have to split my time between blogging, checking e-mail and playing DOTA. All this have been given minimal time and truthfully speaking, I prefer DOTA than blogging. xD But it doesn't imply that I wouldn't be blogging! Be prepared, readers.

This week was Language Week and Pn. Rachel approached me for help as she is the Ketua Panitia for ENGLISH. The favour was this : to be emcee during assembly. Oh shit, damn. I am such an ordinary guy who has great fear in public speaking so you could imagine being in my shoes. I needed time to contemplate and make the right decision. Since this is my last year in secondary school life, I decided to give it a try and challenge myself to embrace this seemingly arduous task which I wouldn't volunteer to take up in my entire life and for many many lifetimes to come.

'A very good morning we bid to the esteemed Headmistress, ......' was my welcoming speech on a Tuesday morning marred by this unexpected invitation to speak as emcee. I could really feel my rhapsodic heartbeat and adrenaline rush as I stand on stage with a F4 girl, Nadhirah. Thankfully my speech was a brief one compared to Nadhirah who had to take a deep breath before starting her long-winded speech inclusive of pantun and stuff.... After the gruelling and heart-pumping 30 minutes aggravated by the Xtra LONG speech by our beloved pengetua, the ordeal was finally over. I heaved a sigh of relief and thank God for granting me a smooth and successful speech in which I clearly didn't embarrass myself. Is it so? It was my first speech-giving experience in my life. Not a memorable one though.

'supercallifragilisticexpialidocious' - Beng Kiat and Khai Ee unanimously said after Hon Chao's watch flashed the zero time left. They were clearly pressured to use this contentious word after failing to make another from their card. Just before the Wazza Word competition begins, I told Khai Ee of this word and didn't xpect him to use it against me this time. It was nothing wrong with that word, really but they had a problem with the spelling. This particular word is also not found in any dictionary available at the Bilik SPBT and they unhappily gifted the other teams bundles of joy for their daring attempt. This word is not allowed, so Beng Kiat and Khai Ee were left pointless for that round.

Wazza Word is a new-found game unknown to us all. To be able to win this game, one has to have a quick mind and extensive vocabulary to make words of more than 10 letters to get extra 50 points. Out of desperation, many teams have come out with words that are not heard before. Ex: 'resupplying' from Soon Huat and Chung Yu. It is understandable to count one's luck in such a tensed situation in which all teams are cracking their head to ensure that the bonus 50 points is grasped. After almost 3 exciting and exhausting hours, me and Hon Chao were the winners with 490 points. Zubin and Eggy were really close to beating us but their amassed points weren't enough to overhaul us. The good thing is that we skipped the Ceramah, which surprisingly was given praise by many.

Scrabble competition was held on Wednesday. The response was overwhelming. My team of four includes : bengkiat, chung yu, soon huat and me. Luck was not on my side that day as I got letters like : U I I I Q A O. How do you expect me to form a decent word from a deck of stupid letters? We were supposed to play 3 rounds. But we spent too much time in the first and so we only played 2 rounds in all. Soon Huat was the righteous winner in my group, who exceeded my points in the second game. Hon Chao was sensational, beating his opponents with ??? marks. And so the next round started with all the winners of the first round. Heard that Chai was the overall winner, congrats to him!!

Amazing race? Could u believe it? This is our very own amazing race in our school's backyard on Saturday. I was interested in joining and gave my name to En.Thiru. But sadly, as he quoted, there were just too many teams joining ( 22 ). So he had to take the harsh way of drawing teams. And my team was not selected. So the fun and excitement embedded in my heart evaporated.

I could and can continue blogging. But this blog is really long and I need to take a break. Till then. Have a nice day =]
